Selling affordable software to as many as possible over decades, keeping the company alive. Small incremental updates with features the competition offered for decades. Serif was always about mediocore software sold via (too) heavy marketing that promised too much with capital letters and lots of colors. I was expecting envelope also with the ability to copy the shape, but not possible.Īlso, I was surprised that the Shape Builder requires an extra step to actually get the shape. I downloaded the trial (initially on Mojave, but not running), and tried on Mac Mini M1. Maybe they will continue the previous model of free updates. On the positive side: there is no subscription, and for now it is quite cheap, especially the combo. I think they invested a lot of effort here, as probably most of their UI was rewritten. No more Mojave, Sierras, El Capitan.Īnd this could be because they moved to a new Apple framework (Universal), and this is not available on older Macs. I was also expecting to have at least the basics (blend, pattern, vector brushes, list goes on).Īlso there was a lot of expectations on a new app.īut the most surprising thing is that it runs only on Catalina and above. I was expecting some new "redefined" workflow. I made a little video!Īttempted to simplify the content of object beneath Hide object draw rectangles in free space: all have some effect!Īny Ideas!.Yes, it is very interesting what they are doing. It appears that the lagging of the overlaying rectangles is related to the objects beneath in the layer stack. Initially I thought it was corrupt but having loaded into latest beta and a bit more testing. I have been having issues with this particular file over last week. Used Stroke Pressure to mimic a variable scalable stroke (So no need for raster edge!) I needed the planets to be completely vector (Scaling and re-colour). However when I tried to drag the rectangles around I was getting lots of delay in the fill trying the catch up with the containing shape. So I created some simple rectangles and used the original planet shape as reference. While working on some more planets I wanted to make use of the vector mesh warp to fold shapes around a circle | Sphere.
